About Earlington Heights
Earlington Heights is the junction of the Metrorail system. Set in northwest Miami-Dade, it is the point where the branch from Miami International Airport meets the main line, which makes it the one station where the Orange Line and the Green Line genuinely part company rather than simply sharing track. Trains reach it from the airport in about four minutes; Government Center is roughly eleven minutes in the other direction.
The weekend arrangement is what makes this station matter to visitors. On Saturdays and Sundays the Orange Line does not operate through the system; instead a two-stop Airport Shuttle works back and forth between the airport and Earlington Heights, so anyone flying in at a weekend changes here onto a Green Line train to continue downtown. A 93-space garage serves local park-and-ride users, and the station carries an Art in Transit commission.

Orange and Green Line trains both call here on weekdays, so the wait is roughly half what either line shows on its own. At weekends only the Green Line runs through.
Around the station
This is residential northwest Miami-Dade, on NW 41st Street, in the stretch of low-rise houses, churches and small businesses between the Brownsville and Allapattah neighborhoods. There are no visitor attractions at the station itself; what it offers is connections. Local bus routes fan out from the station into the surrounding streets and toward the NW 27th Avenue corridor, Miami International Airport is a few minutes away along the branch line, and Allapattah — the next stop toward downtown, and the gateway to the Civic Center medical district beyond it — is barely two minutes on the train.

At weekends the airport branch is worked by a two-stop Airport Shuttle that ends at Earlington Heights, so you leave the shuttle here and board a Green Line train to continue to downtown Miami, Brickell or the southern suburbs. On weekdays the Orange Line runs straight through and no change is needed.
