About Miami International Airport
Miami International Airport is the western terminus of the Orange Line and the point where Metrorail meets the airport. The station forms part of the Miami Intermodal Center, a large transportation complex east of the runways, and it is joined to the terminals by the MIA Mover, a free automated people mover that runs continuously between the two.
Trains depart for downtown roughly every fifteen minutes and reach Government Center in about fifteen minutes, which comfortably beats driving in at rush hour. Weekends work differently and it is worth knowing before you land: the Orange Line stops running through and becomes a two-stop shuttle between the airport and Earlington Heights, where every passenger changes to a Green Line train to continue. Allow extra time for that transfer. The station itself has no parking.

Around the station
What surrounds this station is the Miami Intermodal Center rather than a neighborhood. The Rental Car Center is part of the same complex, as are the Tri-Rail station serving Broward and Palm Beach counties and the bays used by regional and intercity buses. The airport terminals are a short MIA Mover ride away. Beyond the complex lie cargo yards, airport hotels and industrial blocks — functional rather than walkable, and not somewhere to explore on foot with luggage. Most travelers are better off staying inside the intermodal building until their onward connection is ready.

Take the MIA Mover, the free automated people mover that links the terminals with the Miami Intermodal Center. Metrorail, Tri-Rail and the Rental Car Center are all inside that complex, with signs directing you between them.
Only as a shuttle. On Saturdays and Sundays Orange Line trains run between Miami International Airport and Earlington Heights, and passengers going any further change there to a Green Line train. On weekdays the Orange Line runs straight through.
About fifteen minutes to Government Center on a weekday, with trains roughly every fifteen minutes. From Government Center you can continue on the train to Brickell or transfer to the free Metromover.
A one-way ride is $2.25, or $1.10 at the reduced rate for eligible riders. There are no luggage restrictions or extra baggage charges on Metrorail, though trains get crowded at peak times.
