About Brownsville
Brownsville is a Green Line station on NW 27th Avenue, out in the residential northwest, and it is above all a park-and-ride: 428 surface spaces, the biggest lot on this stretch of the line, plus bus connections along one of the county’s busiest north-south avenues. Only Green Line trains call here, so the weekday wait is around 15 minutes and the weekend wait closer to 20.
Government Center is 14 minutes to the south. Earlington Heights, three minutes down the line, is where the tracks split for Miami International Airport: change there onto the Orange Line for the terminal. At weekends the Orange Line runs only as a two-stop shuttle between Earlington Heights and the airport, so the change is the same either way. Northbound, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza is two minutes away, and the station carries commissioned public artwork.

Around the station
Brownsville is a settled residential district of low-rise homes and small churches, with Liberty City to the southeast and Gladeview to the north; Hialeah lies beyond it to the northwest. NW 27th Avenue, which the station straddles, is the main commercial road through this part of the county and one of its heaviest bus corridors, running north toward Opa-locka and south across the river. There is little here aimed at visitors — the station’s job is getting residents downtown and drivers off the avenue and onto a train.
