About Vizcaya
Named for the bayfront estate on the other side of South Miami Avenue, Vizcaya is one of the few Metrorail stations a visitor is likely to use purely for sightseeing. It sits between Brickell and Coconut Grove on the shared stretch of track, so Orange and Green Line trains both stop: the weekday wait is around eight minutes, stretching to roughly 20 at weekends.
The ride to Government Center takes five minutes, among the quickest on the system, and Brickell is three minutes north. Coming from Miami International Airport, allow about 20 minutes on a weekday. Parking is the catch. The lot has only 91 spaces, the smallest of any station on this side of the network, so arriving by train or bus makes far more sense than driving. The station also carries commissioned public artwork.

Orange and Green Line trains both call here on weekdays, so the wait is roughly half what either line shows on its own. At weekends only the Green Line runs through.
Around the station
Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, the Italianate villa and formal gardens built for James Deering, faces the station across South Miami Avenue and is the reason most visitors get off here. Behind the station lie the Roads, a wedge of quiet diagonal streets between US-1 and the bay, while the towers of Brickell begin one stop to the north. The Underline, the linear park being built beneath the Metrorail guideway, follows the tracks past the station and gives walkers and cyclists a continuous route toward downtown.

On a weekday, take the Orange Line straight through from the airport station — about 20 minutes. At weekends the Orange Line runs only as a two-stop shuttle between the airport and Earlington Heights, so change there onto a Green Line train and carry on south.
Yes, the estate entrance is across South Miami Avenue from the station, which is why the stop takes its name. Admission to the house and gardens is paid separately at the gate and is not covered by your train fare.
