About Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza is a Green Line station on NW 27th Avenue, serving Liberty City, Brownsville and the county offices at the plaza it is named for. Only the Green Line calls here, so trains are less frequent than on the shared central section of the system: expect around fifteen minutes between them on weekdays and about twenty on Saturdays.
A 100-space garage makes the station workable as a park-and-ride, and Metrobus routes along NW 27th Avenue feed it from the north. Government Center is roughly sixteen minutes south, which puts downtown offices, courts and county services within a single straightforward ride. There is no direct train to the airport from this platform — you travel south to Earlington Heights and change to the Orange Line there, on weekdays and weekends alike. The station is one of the county’s Art in Transit sites.

Around the station
This is a neighborhood station rather than a destination. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. office plaza, which houses county services, is the main building beside it, and NW 27th Avenue carries the local commercial strip of gas stations, takeout counters and small businesses. Liberty City lies to the east and Brownsville to the south and west, both long-established residential districts of houses, churches, schools and parks rather than attractions. Very few visitors have reason to get off here; almost everyone on the platform lives, works or studies within a mile or two of it.
