About Douglas Road
Standing on the boundary between Coral Gables and Coconut Grove, Douglas Road takes its name from SW 37th Avenue, the busy north-south road it straddles. This is part of the shared central trunk, so Orange Line and Green Line trains use the same platform and you take whichever turns up first — usually after about eight minutes on a weekday, and around twenty minutes at weekends.
Government Center is roughly ten minutes north, while Miami International Airport is about twenty-five minutes away on a weekday Orange Line train. A surface parking lot of some 440 spaces makes the station a practical park-and-ride for drivers coming off South Dixie Highway, and it doubles as a busy bus interchange for the surrounding suburbs. An Art in Transit commission is installed here, as at several stations along the corridor.

Orange and Green Line trains both call here on weekdays, so the wait is roughly half what either line shows on its own. At weekends only the Green Line runs through.
Around the station
Coral Gables lies immediately west, with the Shops at Merrick Park and the Coral Gables business district a little further in that direction and Miracle Mile beyond them. Head east and south and the streets drop down into Coconut Grove, with its waterfront, boutiques and sidewalk cafes. The University of Miami is two stops down the line at University station. The Underline, the linear park being built beneath the elevated guideway, passes the station and gives a continuous walking and cycling route along the corridor toward Brickell and downtown.

On weekdays, ride the Orange Line the whole way — about twenty-five minutes with no change. At weekends, take the Airport Shuttle to Earlington Heights and switch there to a southbound Green Line train.
Both are close. Coral Gables begins immediately west of the station and Coconut Grove spreads to the east and south, though the Grove waterfront is a longer walk than the shopping streets. The Underline path alongside the tracks is the pleasantest way to cover ground on foot.
Two lines serve this platform, so on weekdays a train comes about every eight minutes in each direction. Weekend service thins out to roughly every twenty minutes.
