About Government Center
Government Center is the hinge of the whole network. Every Metrorail train stops here, the Metromover loops meet directly overhead, and the county bus terminal sits at street level, which makes this the default place to change from one mode to another. The station stands at the northern end of downtown Miami, beside the Stephen P. Clark Government Center that gives it its name.
Since both lines share the track through downtown, a weekday wait is around eight minutes and you simply board the first train in. The airport is about fifteen minutes west and Brickell two minutes south. There is no parking at the station — this is somewhere you walk, bus or transfer into rather than drive to. It is also an Art in Transit site, with commissioned work integrated into the station.

Orange and Green Line trains both call here on weekdays, so the wait is roughly half what either line shows on its own. At weekends only the Green Line runs through.

Around the station
You step out into civic downtown Miami. The county government complex and courthouses are immediate neighbors, and the Miami-Dade Main Library and HistoryMiami Museum share the cultural plaza on West Flagler Street. Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus, the shops and jewelry stores along Flagler Street and the Miami Worldcenter district all sit within the surrounding grid. From the Metromover platform above you can reach Bayside Marketplace and the waterfront, the Adrienne Arsht Center to the north and the towers of Brickell to the south without going back down to the street.

No. The Metromover is free to ride, and its platform sits directly above the Metrorail station. It is the easiest way to reach the waterfront, Bayside, the Arsht Center and Brickell Avenue from here.
Roughly fifteen minutes on the Orange Line. On Saturdays and Sundays the Orange Line only runs between the airport and Earlington Heights, so you change to a Green Line train there before continuing to Government Center.
The station has no Metrorail parking lot or garage. Downtown commercial garages exist nearby but are expensive; most drivers park at an outlying station with a garage and ride in instead.
No — Metrorail does not cross the bay. Miami Beach is reached by Metrobus, and several routes leave from the bus terminal at street level beneath the station.
