About Okeechobee
Okeechobee is the network’s big park-and-ride. Between the multi-story garage and the surface lot there are more than a thousand spaces here — 939 inside and another 142 outside — and the whole layout of the station assumes you will arrive by car off Okeechobee Road and finish the trip by train. Central stations such as Brickell offer no parking at all, which is what makes this one so useful to drivers.
The Green Line is the only service, one stop from the Palmetto terminal and one from Hialeah, so trains run roughly every fifteen minutes on weekdays and about every twenty at weekends. Government Center in downtown Miami is around twenty-seven minutes away, which for many commuters compares well with the same journey down the expressway at rush hour. For the airport, change at Earlington Heights.

Around the station
As the name suggests, the station sits on Okeechobee Road, the diagonal highway that runs northwest out of Miami toward the Everglades, in a stretch of Hialeah given over to warehouses, auto shops and light industry. It is not a destination in itself — there is no shopping district or landmark within walking distance. What is here is the garage, the bus bays and easy road access, which is exactly what the station was built to provide. Central Hialeah, with its bakeries and neighborhood shops, is one stop away on the Green Line.
